My skin story

Skincare and beauty are often set aside as something superficial. But when your skin doesn’t look healthy, and suffers from redness, inflammations or severe acne, it can really weigh on your self esteem. It affects your entire day, the people you want to meet and the confidence you feel in a conversation.

I know, because I’ve been there too. Countless visits to the dermatologist, trying different pills, antibiotics, or even considering to take Roaccutane. I know all the pharmacy brands. Those white and blue bottles, without identity, sustainability policy and far from naturally composed. Simply hoping that being rigorous on the traditional recommendations would finally save my skin.

"It wasn’t until l realized that everything in the human body is connected, and I started tackling the problem from a holistic point of view that my skin finally transformed into the condition it is in today."

Disclaimer: they didn't. I kept suffering from acne (and scarring, discoloration of the skin) until my thirties. I was hiding under makeup and corrective creams. It wasn’t until l realized that everything in the human body is connected, and I started tackling the problem from a holistic point of view that my skin finally evolved to the condition it is in today. Perfection doesn't exist, but my skin's health is in a completely different state compared to where I’m coming from.

I lost a bit of weight, which helped my hormonal imbalance to repair. I stopped partying in the weekends. I started to enjoy cooking much more, and went back to the roots of how my mother had educated me all along: lots of vegetables, with a focus on freshness, fibre and seasonal abundance.

"When I found out what properties rosehip has for the skin, I felt like I had found my true match: an accelerator for cell renewal, which makes it effective at fading discolorations, hyperpigmentation and scars."

But a revelation in skincare was the real game changer for me. I threw out the synthetic, medicalized solutions I was offered all along. When I found out what properties rosehip has for the skin, I felt like I had found my true match: an accelerator for cell renewal, which makes it effective at fading discolorations, hyperpigmentation and scars. Improving your skin’s texture and its overall glow. And anti-inflammatory, so ideal to fight and combat acne. On top, rich in omega 6 and 9 fatty acids (especially in linoleic acid, scientifically proven to reduce acne). Not to mention the beautiful story that’s behind wild rosehip, its radically sustainable character and the way it benefits local communities.

I condensed my knowledge of skincare to an easy, effective routine that covers all the essentials: gentle yet thorough cleansing, lots of hydration and our unique rosehip treatment. Some of the only natural actives that have a scientifically proven beneficial effect on the skin are omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, hyaluronic acid, mild cleansing and the application of vitamin A, C, E, K and probiotics (and sunscreen). MAIWE incorporates all of these elements through natural formulas where wild rosehip is our powerhouse: a naturally rich source of omega fatty acids and a unique mix of vitamins.

It all made sense. And it still does. My skin looks better than ever, and on a daily basis I hear customers telling me the same about theirs.
