Las Rosas de Maiwe
A DOCUMENTARY BY IGNACIO GUTIÉRREZ
Maiwe exists. It’s a place in the south of Chile where we would go whenever we were looking for unparalleled peace and beauty. It’s also where, over a decade ago, I first discovered wild rosehip.

On a sunny day in January, I set out with the Chilean photographer Ignacio Gutiérrez, my partner Toto and our daughter Pippa, in search of the Rosas of Maiwe.
I wanted to show you why this place is so inspiring to me. I hope you can feel it too.

Over ten years ago, we were driving around Maiwe and picked up a hitchhiker along the road. It was about this time of year, autumn in Chile, and the landscape was scattered with rosehip. She was the person who told me that rosehip oil was able to fade a scar under one’s bare eyes. It was the moment that triggered everything for me, and ultimately led to the healing of my troubled skin and the beginning of my skincare line.

I never saw her again, but I’ve met so many beautiful women in Maiwe over the years. Women that have a bond with rosehip, as everyone does in Maiwe. Jessica, her mother, Nelida, Rosa and Rosa all opened their doors for us on that hot January day, sharing their rosehip memories. I invite you to travel to Maiwe with us and watch the documentary. We promise it's beautiful once you get there.
